Each year Gaia holds a series of evening talks and discussions with remarkable individuals, visionaries and activists. These talks are designed to provide new insights and new thinking around the most critical issues of our time, to provide inspiration and forge connections.
Here we celebrate former speakers who joined Gaia for their 'Earth Ethics' series of talks. This series of talks, which took place betwen 2007 and 2009, draw especially on two sources of inspiration: indigenous cultures who have retained a harmonious and respectful relationship with their local ecosystems without destroying their source of life; and modern-day, innovative developments in science and law that are beginning to reflect the complexity of the Earth's dynamic processes and our role within these. Could it be the meeting of the ancient and the modern that will help us to renew or re-find our sense of wonder and respect for the Earth and all the species who live upon her?
